My last activity in Phnom Penh was going to a sports bar to see a showing of the Super Bowl. Everyone in attendance had succeeded in not finding out the outcome of the game in advance. One patron had the softest and cutest dog I’ve ever seen in my life.
My housemate’s band was asked to perform at an afternoon BBQ on the roof of a new upscale condo building. I got to join the BBQ.
Ben’s moving to China temporarily before moving to the Philippines for a new job, so we had a glitter party and went to a drag show at Blue Chili for his going-away party. I’m still washing glitter out of everything I own.
Day 2 in Battambang involved walking around and looking at art cafes and checking out the circus at night. You can really get a sense of Cambodia’s former life as a French colony when you study the buildings here.
Stops on my Battambang tour today included the bamboo train, fruit bats, Wat Banan, Wat Ek Phnom, a crocodile farm, and the bats pouring out of the Killing Caves.
I ate lunch in Central Market before hopping on a mini-van up to Battambang where I will stay a few days.
